Guardian Authorization
Effective August 4, 2026 · Version GA-1.0 · privacy@onecharteroak.com
This page describes the guardian authorization process for teen members of Kinset. Teen members (ages 13 to 17) may use Kinset only after a parent or legal guardian completes this authorization.
What Is Guardian Authorization?
Before a teen can join a Kinset household, their parent or legal guardian must review how Kinset handles teen data and confirm a series of authorization statements. This ensures that the guardian understands what Kinset does, what data it collects, and how the teen's information is protected.
What the Guardian Authorizes
During the authorization process, the guardian confirms five specific statements. These are the Guardian Authorization Statements (GAS-1.0):
- I am the parent or legal guardian of the teen named in this invitation.
- I have reviewed what the household can and cannot see about this teen. I understand that the teen's date of birth, body weight, recovery status, soreness check-ins, and solo workout details are private and not visible to me or other household members.
- I understand that Kinset applies age-appropriate training parameters to this teen's workouts based on published guidelines (NSCA 2009, AAP 2020), and that I control my teen's competency tier.
- I authorize Kinset to collect and process this teen's workout data (exercises, sets, reps, weights, session data) and optional health data (body weight, soreness, difficulty ratings) as described in the Privacy Policy and Teen Privacy Notice.
- I understand that I can withdraw this authorization at any time through Settings, and that withdrawal immediately ends the teen's access and begins deletion of their data.
What Happens After Authorization
After the guardian completes authorization:
- Kinset generates a shareable invitation link.
- The guardian shares the link with the teen.
- The teen reviews the invitation, including who invited them and what the household can see about them.
- The teen confirms their own acceptance statements (see Teen Acceptance below).
- The household owner confirms the teen's identity.
- The teen becomes an active household member.
The teen can decline the invitation at any step. No profile or data is created if the teen declines.
Teen Acceptance
The teen confirms four statements during acceptance (TAS-1.0):
- I understand that I am joining a household where other members can see my name, role, and joint workout data.
- I understand that my date of birth, body weight, recovery, and solo workout details are private and not visible to my household owner or other members.
- I agree to the [Terms of Use](/terms) and acknowledge that I have reviewed the Privacy Policy and Teen Privacy Notice.
- I understand that my parent or guardian can withdraw authorization at any time, which ends my access.
Withdrawing Authorization
The guardian can withdraw authorization at any time through Settings. Withdrawal:
- Immediately ends the teen's access to Kinset.
- Revokes all active sessions for the teen.
- Begins deletion of the teen's data (removed from active systems within 30 days, from backups within 90 days).
Withdrawal cannot be undone. To re-authorize the teen, the guardian must complete the full authorization process again with a new invitation.
Record Keeping
Kinset records the following for each guardian authorization:
- The guardian's identity (member ID, user ID).
- The authorization statements version (GAS-1.0).
- The date and time of authorization.
- The teen's acceptance statements version (TAS-1.0), if accepted.
- The date and time of the teen's acceptance, if accepted.
These records are retained for compliance purposes even after account deletion or authorization withdrawal.
Age Transition
When a teen turns 18, Kinset transitions them to adult member status. Guardian authority over their account ends automatically. The member is asked to confirm current Terms and make their own sharing choices.
